My new documentary

So for my next documentary i’m doing a biography type piece about Shawn Tompkins. He was a very well known MMA Trainer who has trained alot of awesome fighters, he passed away last August.

I decided to do my documentary about him because I am a friend of the family. He is the uncle of one of my best friends. I wanted to do it for them more then anything, I thought it would be nice for them to have a video about his life.

So far everything if working out well, His family is more than willing to talk to me about it and I think it helps to get some feeling out. I’m trying my best to make it the best piece of work I have ever made. So we will see what happens!

First Documentary

So I did my first documentary a few weeks back and It came out pretty awesome if I do say so myself. It was about guitar makers and what it;s like to be a guitar maker. I went and talked to two builders and had long interviews with them both about different stories and different people that they have built guitars for.

It was a good experience I am a guitar player so it gave me a good chance to try out a whole bunch of different guitars. I could talk to these guys for a long time because I know a crazy amount about the subject.

I made all the music for the documentary and the songs I made turned out pretty good.

I didn’t have much problem doing this, all the builders were really easy going so that made it a lot easier.

It ended up being a good piece of work and I really worked hard on it. I am currently uploading it to youtube right now.

Watch out for my next one about “The Coach” the late Shawn Tompkins.

Job Shadow

I decided to do my job Shadow at Roger’s TV, I choose this place because I have never been there. I figured it would be an interesting thing to watch. While I was there I shadowed Hayley Zimak. She is the host at Talk Local.

Talk local is an hour long talk show that takes place between 7p.m and 8p.m it has people that are involved in the community. The episode I went to watch had 3 different MPP’s. John Milloy talked for the first half hour and then Michael Harris and Rob Leone talk for the second half hour.

The episode was kind of boring for me. I don’t really care for politics, especially local politics. But it was still worth while because I have never had a behind the scenes look at a TV Show before.

So before the show I had a chance to chat with Hayley Zimak and ask her some questions. I asked her, what her average day to day routine would be and how she prepares for each show. She told us about how much time she spends trying to get guests to come on the show and she likes to try and stay a week ahead just in case.

For the first half of the show I stayed in the studio (which is three different studios in one) to see the atmosphere down there and watch how everything works in there. For the second half hour I went up and watched from the control room. I had never been in a TV control room prior to this so that was a pretty cool experience. There were alot of people up in there on that particular day. I’m told that usually there are not as many people working on that show. I learnt that running a TV is a team effort, everyone really needs to work together to ensure the show runs smoothly. Luckily everything went good on this particular episode.

Comments!!!

I’m going to comment about Steve’s blog on metal Evolution! That documentary series is the best thing to happen to TV in a long time. Honestly I can’t stress it enough that even if you don’t like metal you will like this show.

They go so in depth on how the genre came to be and what influenced who! And the history of it is very interesting.l

This is an awesome thing to blog about and i’m glad that show has been invented!

Anyways it’s been good!

Save The Community

Hello there,

OK so there’s this show on TV called community, it’s probably one of the best comedies on TV right now and it has a relatively large fan base.

But a lot of people who watch it must be downloading it, because NBC IS THINKING OF CANCELLING IT. Which is Bulls***!

Anyways there was this video I found on College Humor talking about why more people should watch this.

NBC has been notorious for cancelling some of the best shows most notably Conan O’Brien. So what everyone needs to do is go watch the whole 1st season and if you don’t like it that’s ok because it doesn’t like you. If you do like it, it could get saved and life will be good again.

…Wishful thinking

Anyways just thought I would share this and hope for the best!

Thanks for listening!

p.s. This is the last season of Chuck which also an awesome show!

This is awesome, we need to save this gosh darn show!

This Weeks Feature

Hello there,

So we have a feature due this week, I’m well on my to getting it done. I have realized that this topic is a lot harder to make a story on then I thought.

So right away I got in touch with cooperate Rogers to try and set up an interview with them, and after about two weeks of talking back and forth they kind of screwed me over. They wouldn’t let me shoot in any of there Rogers locations and they wouldn’t give me an interview… Thank you Rogers.

Anyways I have found other ways of getting all the footage I need, which is awesome. I got other interviews to. But this whole video has been failure after failure, which sucks but I got around it… I’m on plan D right now, plans A to C fell though.

In the end of all this I will be glad to be done this feature. I have learned some good stuff from it too and it wasn’t hard to find information on the subject. Getting footage and interviews required me to jump though some hoops, but I think the end product will be good.

Part 2

So I finished it and it came out alright, I’m just super relieved it’s done! It might not be the newsy feature but I think I got the job don pretty good. I’ve spent too much time in the school in the last couple of days and I hate writing scripts.

I also would like to add that I have watched a bunch of the classes feature and it looks like everyone did an awesome job, so good job guys!

Thanks for reading!

Unexpected news story

Hello,

So today I ended up doing an unexpected story. We went to the up stairs hallway and there was something going on.

I was studio cam today but when I was waiting around to film the host I went and filmed this.

We went in with a camera and there were a bunch of girls from the interior design class that had been working on something kind of cool.

These girls took a bunch of chairs that were thrown out and in dumpsters and cleaned them up good as new. In fact they were better then new.

Each group of girls put there own style into these chairs so all of them turned out way different, some with fur, paint splatter and denim.

It seems that when your not looking for a story one pops up and when your looking for one there nothing going on.

Comments!!!

Hello there,

I’m going to comment on Steve’s blog about “Metal Evolution: An anthropological look at the history of metal”.

This show is probably one of the best shows I’ve seen in awhile. Each episode is a documentary about different styles of metal and how it got to be where it is.

They guys who make this documentary are from Canada and every documentary they have made has been unreal awesome! Metal: A head banger’s journey, Global Metal and Flight 666 are documentaries all about metal and how it has changed over time.

I love metal and I love these shows and this new series that they are doing is great. Even if you don’t like metal this show and the documenaries are worth the watch.
